Signal box. c1870 for the Exeter-Exmouth line, a London and South Western Railway
modified type 1 design, serves also the level crossing gates. English bond brick-
work to lower half, horizontal boarding above; hipped Welsh slate roof to lead
dressings. Towards line is plain brick base with continuous window above, all paned
wood, two outer sections horizontal sash, centre fixed, small vent in roof slope.
Return to Station Road 9:9:6-pane fixed; return left has central door approached
by wood stair and protective wood porch, flanked by fixed lights. Back has central
eaves stack externally, above small lights in brickwork below a 6-pane to left,
and horizontal boarding. The Stevens lever frame remains. The building groups
with the station building (qv) about 35 metres to the south.
