Inn, formerly 2 dwellings, now one house. C17, altered C18 and C19. Squared
coursed limestone with ashlar facade and stone slate roofs. Originally one- and
2-unit plans. 2 storeys, part with attic. 3-window range. Late C18, 2-storey,
square bay window, to left, has glazing bars and tile hanging. Similar bay with
C19 casement to first floor right. Central C19 casement window, to first floor,
under wood lintel. Ground floor projection, to right, has lean-to roof and 2
large casement windows with glazing bars. Similar, central, part-canted bay
window abuts to left. 6-panel door, to left of centre, under stone lintel with
keyblock. Hipped roof dormer, with leaded casement, to right. Ashlar gable
parapets and similar ashlar parapet to right of centre denotes change in eaves
level and division between the 2 former dwellings. Ashlar stack, at ridge. Blank
plaque above door. Early C19 parallel range to rear has sash windows with ashlar
surrounds. Range at right angles to rear has mansard roof, the upper room of
which was used as a recusant chapel. Interior has remains of open fireplaces and
ceiling beams.
