All Saints

Pair of chest tombs. Late C18. Limestone ashlar. Chest tomb to north is square
with panelled sides and sloping top. Upstand at back of slope has inscriptions
to William Law died 1761, Hester Gibbon, d.1790 and Sarah Law, d.1781. Front
panel also has long inscription. Chest tomb to south has plain sides and sloping
top. Inscription on south side to Elizabeth Hutcheson who died 1781. Those
commemorated all lived for a time at Hall Farmhouse (q.v.). William Law and
Elizabeth Hutcheson were responsible for charitable foundations in Kings Cliffe;
in 1725, William Law, the C18 divine, published "A Serious call to a Devout and
Holy Life". The tomb commemorating William Law is said to represent a writing
desk.
