Woodford Mill

A Grade II Listed Building in Woodford, North Northamptonshire

Woodford Mill, Great Addington, Northamptonshire

This always used to be known as Woodford Mill, which mystified me as the village of Woodford is some distance away. It actually lies in the Nene Valley on the road between Great Addington and Ringstead.

This Grade II-listed watermill with an attached house dates from the mid-1700s to the early 1800s. Two wheels are still left, one behind the grating plus a second within the recent extension at the far end. This is one of a number of watermiils that used to line the banks of the River Nene. This one is now a very pleasant tearoom while several others have been converted into residential accommodation.
