Farmhouse and attached barn now house and attached barn. House of 2 builds.
Right part mid C17 with mid C20 alterations. Left part late C18 with possibly
earlier origins and with C20 repairs to roof. Barn C18 with C20 repairs to roof.
Right part. Front elevation of coursed, squared ironstone rubble with coursed
rubble to rear. Long reed thatched roof. Stone end stack. Stone-coped gables
with moulded kneelers. 2-unit, lobby entry plan. Front elevation of 2 storeys
plus attic; single storey plus attic to rear. 2-window range. Entrance in
2-storey gabled porch placed between 2 builds. Plank door and moulded wood
surround. 3-light casement above. Two 3-light wood casements on ground floor
with a blocked doorway between. First floor has two 3-light wood casements. Most
windows have lead cames and crown glass. Single thatched full dormer has a
2-light casement. Interior: straight flight with winder staircase, 2-panel door
with butterfly hinges, wide elm floorboards, stop-chamfered beams, inglenook
fireplace with bressumer (blocked fire window) trenched purlin roof raised on
front elevation in 1950s. Left part. Coursed, squared ironstone rubble on front
elevation; rear has upper courses of coursed, squared ironstone with coursed
rubble below. Part remains of thatched longreed roof. Stone end stacks,
Stone-coped gables with stone kneelers. 2-unit plan. 2 storeys plus attic.
2-window range. Blocked entrance on left has wood lintel. Entrance now in
2-storey porch on right. Ground floor has two tall 2-light wood casements. 2
similar 3-light first floor windows. Wood lintels, lead cames and crown glass.
Blocked 3-light stone mullioned cellar window has hood mould and label stops.
Small blocked stone window between ground and first floors. Rear has a 3-light
wood casement and 2 and 3-light wood mullioned and transomed windows with lead
cames and crown glass. Wood lintels. Lead rainwater goods on right. Interior:
lowered ground floor level. Stop-chamfered beams, internal shutters, plank
doors, internal partition on first floor of light stud construction. Attic has a
blocked window, 3 bay trenched purl in roof of rough timbers. Principal rafters
have collars and are pegged and crossed at apex. Original roof retained beneath
inserted load bearing rafter roof of c1950. Barn. Squared coursed ironstone.
Renewed tile roof. Single storey. 2 bays. Entrance on right has plank door with
strap hinges. Moulded wood surround and wood lintel. 2-light casement in left
gable. Interior: partly renewed C19/C20) queen post strut and rafter roof.
