My translation: From this base earthly body I look forward to a holy place, with the merciful help of God. And I look forward to a glorious resurrection clothed in flesh, and at last the high blessed Kingdom of Heaven. In the circular panel at the top, Arms of Saunders: Per chevron sable and argent three elephants heads counterchanged a mullet for difference (third son). On an esquires helm a tressure argent and gules. Crest An elephants head erased sable, ear counterchanged argent, armed or, a mullet for difference. In the shields of his three wives, Saunders is impaled with: or three lioncels passant in pale sable (Carew). Quarterly 1 and 4 Argent a cross patonce raguly between 4 Cornish choughs proper (Chaloner), 2 and 3 vert between a chevron ermine three wolves heads erased argent langued gules. (Her mother also an armiger heiress). Or two chevrons gules on a canton of the second a mullet of the first (Pope of Sussex). (Photo Jun 2010).
