House. c.1770. Hammer-dressed stone, ashlar dressings, stone slate roof. 2
storeys. 3-room front, through-passage, with added rear wing. Raised
rusticated quoins, band, cornice. All are double chamfered mullioned windows.
1st cell has 6-light window with same over. Doorway with monolithic jambs
lugged to the head with fluted entablature and triangular pediment. 2nd cell,
8-light window with same over. 3rd cell, 5-light window with same over. All
window surrounds project from the face of the wall. Coped gables with kneelers.
Right hand return wall has 2 sash windows to 1st floor and circular attic light.
3 stacks to ridge. An interesting house which carries the characteristic C17
style of windows and plan form of service room, housebody and parlour with rear
kitchen wing, well into the C18. Has similar characteristics to Horsfall House
(q.v.) dated 1777.
