7/301 Higher Stoodley Cottage

G.V. II

House. Dated 1744. Random rubble brought to course, hammer-dressed stone,
stone slate roof. Originally single storey, raised to 2 storeys early C19.
South east front preserves chamfered mullioned window of 3 lights to ground
floor which has doorways with monolithic jambs. 1st floor has 5 flat faced
mullioned windows of 2 lights. Very large quoins to the angles. Coped gables
with kneelers. 2 stacks to ridge. Right hand return wall has 2-light chamfered
mullioned window with same over (blocked) to former attic window now at
mezzannine level. 2-light flat faced mullioned window to 1st floor. Rear has
doorway with carved lintel bearing date and initials 'I S' in relief.
