House, formerly public house; late C16 with possible earlier core, extended
C18. 1 1/2 storeys and attics, 3-cell lobby entrance plan. Timber-framed and
rendered in oblong scratched panels. Thatched roof with eyebrow casement
dormers; late C16 axial chimney of red brick, with part of twin flattened-
hexagon shafts on square base, the shafts later rebuilt square. 3-light C19
and C20 casements with leaded diamond panes; a small 4-light C16 diamond-
mullioned window in the parlour. The external walling of the hall has rising
sole-braces, and may be part of an earlier structure. Clasped purlin roof, C17
or early C18 replacement of original. The left-hand service room added late
C17 or early C18 with much reused timber.
