A Grade II Listed Building in Rothley, Leicestershire

C18 house at 4, Church Street, Rothley

Uploader's Comments

Late C18 white rendered redbrick house with moulded brick cornice and Swithland slate roof. 2½ storeys high, with sash windows, their lower sashes with modern, large, panes. Gabled eaves dormer windows. Moulded keyblock in lintels of first storey windows. Ground floor box bay windows and between them the doorway. The doorcase has pilasters with brackets, which in 1984 supported a broken pediment. This would perhaps have been seen as rather ecclesiastical; my picture shows a plain hood on moulded inner supports. Six panelled door and fanlight with cusps. On the left is a carriage arch, converted to a garage. (Photo Apr 2015).
