House. C17 origins. Whitewashed and rendered, C20 tile roofs, left gable end
chimney local brick, right gable end chimney rendered, tall local brick lateral
chimney to front. Single depth plan with outshuts to rear left and right, that to
the right probably originally service room to kitchen. Plan may have been 3 room
and through passage, through passage altered to stair hall late C17/early C18 with
contemporary stair, or stair hall may be original with some archaic features at
former kitchen end. 2 storeys. Front has off-centre entrance into stair hall, two
2-light timber casements, 8 panes per light to left of entrance. One 3-light C20
window to right of porch. First floor has 2 C20 full dormers and small 2-light
opening. Ground floor room to right of stair hall, former kitchen, has ceiling
beams and large fireplace with fireplace beam with step stops and cloam oven. Wide
chamfered timber doorframe and 3-plank door lead into rear right outshut. Ground
floor room to left of stair hall, probably former hall, has blocked fireplace to
lateral stack, earlier fireplace probably intact behind, and axial beam with step
stops. Wall between parlour and former hall missing. C17 roof with diagonally set
ridge, trenched purlins and cambered collars, halved and side-pegged, all angled
between the principals. Late C17/early C18 stair has turned balusters.
