at Lyme Park.

Pair of cottages: dated 1871 perhaps by A.Darbyshire for William
Legh. Rock-faced buff sandstone. Welsh slate hipped roof with
trefoil pierced slate ridge. 2 stone chimneys. One-storey
symmetrical 5-bay front. End bays blank except for date plaque to
right, patron's initials to left, both in square recesses. Central
8-board door with Jacobean iron hinges flanked by single lights behind
open timber and glass porch with octagonal wooden posts on stone
bases, and shaped angle braces and pierced spandrels. Pair of
triangular gabled dormers above. Second and fourth bays step forward
under a hipped roof, and have a pair of single casements.
