House, reputedly dating from 1585 but rebuilt mid C18 and late C20. Hammer
dressed stone, stone slate roof. L-shaped. 2 storeys. South front has gabled
cross wing to left with quoins and thin flat faced mullioned windows of 4 lights
to each floor. Coped gable with kneelers and finial to apex. Hall range, set
back, has 3 bays of chamfered mullioned windows of 4 lights all with hoodmoulds
with straight returns or spiral label stops. Set between 2nd and 3rd bays is
doorway with composite jambs with chamfered surround over which is small recess
with hoodmould, in which is set sundial. Left hand return wall of cross wing
has thinner coursed stone and preserves double chamfered mullioned windows of 4
lights (lacking 2 mullions) with hoodmould with straight return. Over, to 1st
floor, chamfered window formerly of 2 lights lacks mullion. Central stack to
ridge of cross wing. Extruded gable stack (modern) to main range the interior
of which forms large room open to roof with queen-post trusses. The rear is
remodelled and has modern extension at right angles forming garage with bedrooms
over.
