House or houses, probably with shops, now three premises, late C15 or early C16;
later alterations, particularly in C19 and C20. Timber framed with wattle and daub
infill, now rendered; painted brick rear additions. Roof has Welsh Slates with tile
ridge to front; plain tiles to rear. Part rendered brick stack. 2 Storeys
originally jettied. 3 Bays, plus narrow chimney bay between nos. 7 and 9 (stack
removed) rear Wing additions to nos. 7 and 11. Street elevation: no. 7 has late
C20, glazed door on left of wide canted window; 2 light 8 pane wooden casement
window above. No. 9 has half glazed door flanked by late C20 windows with 2 more
above. No. 11 has half - glazed 4 panel door on right, tripartite sash window on
left; and 1st floor window as No. 7 Ridge stack between Nos. 9 and 11. Rear: No. 7
has an old iron casement with leading in chamfered wood surround, to 1st floor on
right; wing is late C18/ early C19 in appearance with later windows. Mid late C19
Wing to No. 11. Interior: timber frame survives particularly well in No. 7 and also
concealed, at right end of No. 11 (visible from roof of NO. 13 (qv). It has large
scantling jowelled wall posts and massive arch braces: close studded frcnt wall (to
1st floor) with evidence in No. 7 of former 2 light window with diagonal set mullion
and shutter; wattle and daub infill panels; partition walls that between left hand
and chimney bays (in No. 7) having 2 doorways; Cambered tie beams, queen posts,
cambered collars clasped purlihs, sections of old rafters remain but mostly
replaced. Nos. 7 and 9 have hollow-moulded joists and chamfered beams, the chamfer
broad and with stepped cyma stops. Similar beam in No. 11 and possibly jetty
bressumer (boxed). No. 7 also has fine 4 centered arched stone fireplace on ground
floor with vine scrolls in spandrels and ogel-arched recess beside it; 1st floor
fireplace retains one hollow-moulded jamb. No. 9 not fully inspected.
