House dated 1614 with added parallel range to south of mid C17 with C19
alterations. Large dressed stone, stone slate roof. 2 storeys. South front
has plinth, string course and double chamfered mullioned windows of 7 lights
with 6-light window over to 1st floor; porch with basket arched doorway with
carved shields set in the spandrels and deeply moulded surround over which
string forms triangular pediment with coped gable and lantern finial; 3-light
window with 4-light window over, sashed window with 3-light window over. Left
hand return wall has coped gable with kneelers and extruded stack, 1st floor has
2-light window with hoodmould with label stops. Set back is remains of earlier
housebody which has 2-light fire-window and former 14-light mullioned and
transomed window altered to form 3 large lights, both have hoodmoulds with
carved label stops. The service end is rebuilt and has added C19 cottage all
are sashed windows. Right hand return wall has 2 gables, string course steps
over 4 sashed windows with 15 paned glazing possibly cross-windows formerly;
single sash to each gable which is coped with kneelers and finials, one kneeler
is inscribed [HM]. Set back is earlier house with Tudor arched doorway the
lintel carved with spandrels and the date "1614", chamfered surround. Over
is a small arched light with sunken spandrels. To the right a 3-light chamfered
mullioned window with hoodmould with a 4-light double chamfered mullioned window
to 1st floor. 3 stacks to ridge.
