TL 84 NW PENTLOW PENTLOW VILLAGE 2/214 Pentlow Tower House

House. Circa 1880. Built for Rev. John Bull. Asymmetrical plan. Red brick built. Red tiled roofs with pierced ridge tiles. 2 storeys and attics. There is a gabled crosswing to left with pilasters to right and left of the 3 storey windows. Moulded brick gable cornice. Moulded brick triangular fleuron to gable. Moulded brick rose and leaf panel below gable window. Fleuron central band. To right of this gable is a stone porch with panelled parapet and ball finials, fluted pilasters and round head doorway. The door is of heavy panelling. Window over. A narrow full height gable breaks forward to right of the porch with stone 3 or 4 light windows. These windows with original coloured leaded lights and coats of arms. Moulded brick gable, cornice and panels. The range to right of this gable of 2 storeys, moulded eaves cornice, central fleuron band, 2 windows to ground floor and 1 to first floor. Metal sundial to first floor right. All windows are horned vertical sliding sashes and have triglyph keystones to gauged brick arches. The moulded brick patterns include egg and dart, daisy and leaf, rose and leaf, crucifera, and diamond. There are gault brick ornately pierced ventilators. There is a matching bay window to right return. 3 red brick chimney stacks with bands and pilasters. Attached to left of house is an original conservatory on a brick base, of 8 lights each with glazing bar and transoms. A good example of later C19 moulded brickwork.
