13/356 Milestone at NSR ST 4969 1909


Milestone. C18 possibly. Ham stone, incised. Pillar about 260mm wide by
230mm thick and about 750mm high, slightly tapered, with flat top,
inscribed (4 or 5)/miles/To/Yeovil'. This is a minor, unturnpiked road,
and so was possibly erected by the parish. (Bentley JB and Murless BJ,
Somerset Roads, Somerset Industrial Archaeological Society, 1985).
