Club premises. 1865 by Charles Lee,probably incorporating some
of fabric of C18 and early C19 houses formerly on the site. Stu
faced, slate roof. Symmetrical palazzo front. 3 storey,
basement and attics. 7 windows wide with a 2 storey canted bay
to left. Central entrance in a heavy arched corniced porch.
Semicircular arched ground floor sash windows framed by panelled
pilasters with heavy keyed archivolts, panelled aprons, impost
string, the bay window also with archivolt lights. 1st floor has
flat arched windows in round arched architraves with "fan" tympana,
flanked by Corinthian pilasters supporting pediments; eared
architraves and cornices to top floor windows separated by large
sunk panels. Stucco area balustrade and balustraded 1st floor
balcony, string cornice to 2nd floor and main entablature with
decorated frieze and pierced parapet above. Interior decorated
ponderously in the manner of the other club houses.
