Terraced town houses. c.1780-90, Portman Estate development. Stock
brick, a number with stuccoed ground floor; concealed slate roof. 4 or 5
storeys on basements. 3-window wide fronts except for 2-window front to
No. 22, a 4-window front to No. 34 and 5 to No. 36. Semicircular arched
doorways principally to right, at No. 22 to left, at No. 34 off centre and
central to No. 36; panelled doors with pilastered jambs, some with side
lights, under fanlights; some with rusticated (probably Coade stone)
surrounds. Recessed sashes under flat gauged arches. Delicate cast iron,
geometric patterned, balconies to 1st floor, except at No. 32. Parapets
with stone copings. Cast iron area railings with urn finials. No. 30 has
G.L.C. plaque recording residence of Edward Lear.
