Offices and amusement arcade. 1886-87 by Spencer Chadwick for the Gatti Brothers
and built as the Adelphi TheatreRestaurant. Stucco with polished granite dressings
to ground floor, slate roof. 3 storeys and attic storey, 3 windows wide. Ground
floor retains frame of former restaurant frontage (altered with plate glass) with
polished granite pilasters and attached columns carrying entablature. 1st and 2nd
floor recessed casement windows with rusticated jambs are articulated by a tetrastyle
Corinthian portico in antis carrying entablature and lunette-windowed Doric attic
with balustraded balcony. Part of the Gatti Brothers'l88Os refurbishment and
alteration of the Adelphi Theatre adjoining.
