Former terrace houses now offices, dressing-rooms and stage door to the Adelphi Theatre. c.1635 origin, Nos. 18 and 19 acquired by the theatre in 1834 and No. 20 in 1867 and in 1868-69 all three were refaced by Joseph Lavender as part of works on theatre. Stucco faced, slate roof. 4 storeys. No. 18; 4 windows wide. Nos. 19 and 20 of 3 windows each. Channelled ground floor has doorways to left and 2 to right in square headed recesses - that furthest right, the former Royal Entrance to the theatre, has door and semicircular fanlight in egg and dart enriched surround with female head key and rosette and rinceaux ornament to spandrels with Royal Arms in panel above, the other doors square headed with panels over flanked by consoles. Upper floors have architraved sashes with console bracketed pediments on 1st floor and cornices on 2nd floor. 3rd floor has segmental headed half dormers. Moulded cornice over ground floor, sill bands and string courses, dentil cornice over 2nd floor. See also Adelphi Theatre No. 411 Strand.
