TL 90 SE SOUTHMINSTER SHEEPCOTES LANE

House. C16 or earlier. Timber framed and rendered. Hipped with gablets red
plain tiled roof. Central plastered red brick chimney stack, original attached
diagonal shafts visible internally below ridge. 2 storeys and attics. 2 gabled
dormers. 5 window range to first floor of small paned vertically sliding
sashes. 2 double and one single french doors, one.stall paned casement to
ground floor. Central circa 1925 gabled porch and panelled door. To left a
later single storey brew/bakehouse with red brick chimney stack to left,
vertically boarded door and casement window. Interior features include double
staggered side purlin roof with unusual solid braces pegged into principal
rafters and short hammer beams. Halved arched braces to some bays. Several 4
panelled doors. Newel stairs at side of fireplace. Back to back inglenook
fireplace, straight mantel beam over. First floor chamfered red brick fireplace
with segmental arch. Chamfered bridging and ceiling joists, some renewed.
Jowled storey posts. Halved bracing to walls. 3 blocked windows with moulded
mullions. C17 brew/bakehouse with red brick fireplace, stop chamfered mantel
beam over. Red tiled floor, old pargetting to house wall visible on east wall.
