Obelisk. Erected 1864 as monument to W H Whitbread. Rather plain granite
obelisk on plinth and 2 steps, with inscription to E side of plinth. About 5-
6 metres high, Inscription reads:

To William Henry Whitbread Esquire
for his zeal and energy in promoting
railways through the country of Bedford.
1864. Erected by public subscription.
