1/235 Oldlands Farmhouse


Farmhouse. Central core probably of C15, with additional wing
probably of late C16 or early C17 forming L-shape, and later brick
additions to north and west probably of C18 and C19. Roughcast
over rubble stone, mainly slate roof, wing to north with double
Roman tile roof. Rebuilt brick stacks except for large stone
ridge stack to left of original through passage, with off sets and
circular flue. Single storey and attic. Main L-shape range has
2 small gables and one large end gable to west, steeply pitched.
Scattered fenestration, mainly 2 and 3-light casements. Plank
door with C19 gabled trellis porch. Large slate roofed brick
lean-to on north west corner.
Interior has many fine beamed ceilings including compartmented
chamfered beams in several rooms on ground floor. First (attic)
floor has pair of probable raised crucks in core and possibly also
in earlier extension, partially concealed by decorations.
