3/85 Milestone at NGR ST 6809 2574

Milestone. Probably C19. Doulting stone with cast iron plaque. Stone about
400 mm wide x 250 mm thick and about 600 mm tall with rounded top, the base
being well buried. Plaque about 400 mm wide and 500 mm deep with shouldered
semi-circular top and double ogee base, and reads - in 'incised' letters - "Wincanton" - on curve - "3, Sherborne 7".
This road was maintained by the Wincanton Trust, from circa 1818.
