House. Mid C17. Local stone rubble with ashlar dressings; plain clay tile roof over stone slate base courses between coped gables; ashlar stone and rendered chimney stacks. U-plan (formerly 'L'-plan); East elevation 2 storeys, 6 bays. Reserve chamfer mullioned windows of 3-lights with leaded panes: projecting 2-storey porch to bay 3 with flat roof behind cornices and pediment with ball finials; C20 door below and 2-light architraved window above. Further mullioned windows to South and West sides; the North West corner is a C20 addition.
Interior not seen.
Estate first mentioned in 1227; records of owners from 1578, but only record of rebuilding is of major internal and external alteration by Daniel Orchard between 1855-59. (Swetman G, History of Wincanton, c1903).
