C16 house, with earlier remnants inside. Of 2 storeys, timber framed plastered
with partly Flemish-bond brick ground storey, where former jetties underbuilt.
Roofs ridged and hipped with 4 red brick chimney stacks, and the plan on an L
with 2 short wings in the return. The south front was originally jettied full
length but now underbuilt. A central chimney stack of square plan, existing
windows sets of modern casements. East elevation has built out flat roofed addition
on ground storey, full length, with reproduction fluted door case and wooden
casement. A range of casements on first storey. Inside much evidence of good
timber-framing; including former jetties along the north wall. The south-west
roof has an uncommonly good heavy frame with serpentine collars to every 4 common-
rafters. The soot encrusted rafters of an earlier open hall were re-used east
of the chimney stack which internally is of narrow bricks and early date - possibly
Henry VIII.
