5.2.70 Queen Alexandra Memorial

- I

Memorial sculpted fountain. 1926-32 by Alfred Gilbert. Bronze;
built into the garden wall of Marlborough House. Finely cast and
richly detailed Art Nouveau Gothic. Figures of the Virgin and Child
with 2 female attendants. The small fountain is designed as a
miniature weir overflowing into shallow basin forming pedestal of
the memorial. Flanking pair of bronze lamps.
