Stables and barn. Barn dated 1680 on lintel of doorway. Coursed squared
sandstone with quoins, slate roof. Long range on north-south axis facing
east, with barn forming northern half. Large segmental-headed wagon doorway
near north end, with chamfered surround; to the left, 2 square windows at
ground floor level and a square pitching-hole above and between; further
left, a Tudor-arched doorway with chamfered surround, the lintel with raised
lettering in panels: " D ; to left of this doorway, a vertical joint
M C 1680"
with quoins to the barn. The stable range to the left has a central stable
door flanked by square windows, and 3 square openings above.
Interior of barn: 4 bays, with rear aisle; 3 aisle posts (one post cased with
brick, others concealed by hay at time of survey), with braces to aisle-
plate, and the northernmost with brace to tie-beam, which carries a king post
roof truss (other trusses altered). (Stable range at right-angles to north
end of barn not included in the item).
