Milepost. Early C19. Cast iron by Bendall, Lawford Ironworks, Manningtree.
Triangular with a spur from base to the flat top with curved head. Face reads,
Manningtree to London 60. Left side - Colchester 9, right side - Harwich 12.
Label on spur reads - Bendall, iron and brass founders, plough and machine
maker, Lawford, Essex. 1834. Lawford Ironworks were founded by 0. Bendall
early C19, later became J.R.M. Fitch, closed 1971 and were later demolished.
