Midland Railway signal box. Late C19. Timber frame with horizontal and
vertical board cladding, Welsh slate roof. 2 storeys, single cell. Horizontal
boarding to ground floor, vertical boarding above. Windows are wood-framed with
shouldered heads and small-pane glazing. South-east side: board door on left,
window on right. Steps up to 1st floor door flanked by windows. Name board at
eaves on right. Oversailing hipped roof with apex finial. Railway side blind
on ground floor; with continuous glazing fronted by balcony above. North-west
side: two ground-floor windows. Interior: Switching gear removed c1977, but
bench box survives.
