Detached house. Early C18 and late C19, the latter possibly by Henry Wilson whilst he was working at the Church of St.
Mary the Virgin (q.v) nearby. Ham stone near-ashlar; Welsh slate roof-between coped gables; ashlar chimney stacks. Two
storeys with attic and three storeys; 6 bays. Bay 1 is a C19 crosswing, 3 storeys with slightly projecting gable; below
A square 4-light wide bay window with flat roof behind parapet, with 3-light plain mullioned window to first floor
under hood mould, and 2-light to second floor with segmental hoodmould, all with architraves to match retaining
windows: balance of house C18 origins; eaves course with sawtooth ornament; 2-light mullioned windows with headed
mullions and architraved surrounds, all rectangular leaded, with some iron traded opening lights and curl stays,
internal vertical iron bars: to lower bay 3 a C19 part-glazed door in plain opening, protected by open stone porch with
semi-circular arch having keystone, insists, cornice etc. in Cl7 style. C19 extension to rear, including an Italian
style loggia. Inside some C18 details survive, including coving mouldings to ceilings, some doors and dourcases;
staircase apparently of Regency date, remaining work C19. The house occupied by the Trask family at end of C19, Charles
Trask being a local historian, (Trask, C: Norton sub Hamdon, 1898).
