Stonebridge Farm

II

Farmhouse. C15 or early C16, with C17 alterations. Timber framed.
Ground floor red and grey brick in English Garden Wall bond, first
floor tile-hung. Plain tile roof. Wealden, with open hall of two
roughly equal-length timber-framed bays, and storeyed end bays. 2
storeys. Right and left end bays jettied to front, left jetty
formerly returning on dragon beam. Solid-spandrel bracket under
central tie-beam end. Arch-braced flying wall-plate. Hipped roof.
C17-style brick ridge stack to left end of right hall bay, with
corniced brick plinth to two cylindrical flues which have proud brick
striations. Formerly-projecting brick gable-end stack to left.
Irregular fenestration of 4 casements; one three-light to left hall
bay, and one two-light to each of the others. Ribbed door with four-
centred arched head, to left end of left hall bay. Similar rear door
to right end of right hall bay. Lean-to to left, and rear lean-to
to right. Interior not inspected.
