Outer Curtain Wall and
gatehouse at Farnham Castle

A ditch and bank enclose the Castle and on this the present curtain wall stands.
Large ditch remains to the north and east. Curtain wall of chalk; probably
late C12 to early C13. Square mural towers project outwards from the north
face, originally with arrow slits in the upper part. Gatehouse in south-west
part of curtain wall: C13 probably; rendered; C19 additions. 2 rectangular
towers with semi-octagonal projections on either side.
