Description

SX 79 NE CREDITON HAMLETS NEOPARDY

6/120 Two adjoining barns approx.
5m north-west of Mill House

GV II

2 adjoining small barns. Probably late C15-early C16 and C17, reroofed in C20.
Plastered cob on rubble footings; corrugated iron roof (formerly thatch). Pair of
barns set end to end; the earlier barn on the right side (north-east end) is open
to the roof, the other is floored with upper hayloft. Each long front shows
central straight join and footings to right were built up higher than those to
left. Both have large central doors on south-east front (facing Mill House) and
that to right is raised above ground level for unloading from carts and has narrow
C20 single light window to right; left door has loading door over. Roof is
hipped to left and gable-ended to right. Roof structure is C20 but a face-pegged
jointed cruck-post survives on rear wall of earlier barn. Included for group
value.
