Canal warehouse. Probably mid C19, the 3rd warehouse built on
this site, formed by bridging the gap between the 1st and the
2nd; altered and recently restored. Coursed squared sandstone
rear wall and south gable, slate roof. Trapeziform plan. High
single-storey open fronted structure with very prominent
full-width canopy carried on 4 full-height cast-iron columns
with I-beam "arcade plate"; strapped queen-strut roof. Rear
has 2 wagon doorways (altered).
INTERIOR not inspected.
Forms important element of group with Wharf Master's House &
Toll Office (qv), warehouse attached to this (qv), north
warehouse (qv), stable block on east side of yard (qv), and
boundary wall and gateways to yard (qv).
