Pair of cottages. 1877. By E. W. Godwin for Earl Cowper. Brick
with plain tile roof. Battered plinth. 2 gable and single ridge
stacks. 2 storeys, 3 bays. Gabled single storey rear wing.
Windows are mullioned glazing bar casements and sashes with
segmental heads. Street front has to left, mid C20 single storey
addition. To its right, 2 doors with segmental heads, that to
left with weatherboarded hood. Flanked by single casements.
Above, 2 sashes. To their right, datestone inscribed 'C. 1877'.
To right again, tile hung cross eaves gabled dormer. South east
end has, above, 2 sashes. Rear elevation has above, to left,
tile hung cross eaves gabled dormer. To right, a similar
catslide roofed dormer. These cottages are one of a number of
farmhouses and estate cottages designed by E. W. Godwin for Earl
Cowper in 1872-1878.
