Bricks in outshut dated 1750. Mid C18 house of 2 room plan with central entrance
lobby and sunken dairy outshut. Two storeys red brick with some vitrified headers.
Tiled roof. Eaves cornice of bricks set diagonally. Strongcourse. Three casement
windows, the ground floor ones cambered. Central doorcase with later pentined weather
hood. Interior has framed partitions of light scantling to entrance lobby. Internal
jetty between rooms and outshut with square framing. The stairs rise in the outshut.
There is a large inside. ingle nook hearth and a corner parlour hearth. Queen Strut
roof. Pathways of Charlwood stone. The cottage has its name because it is built with
its back to the road. (See Domestic Buildings Research Group Report No 100.
