2/10 Terrace of houses at Kelly's House

Row of terraced houses. Probably mid to late C18 extended in early and mid C19.
Stone rubble. Slate roofs with hipped end on right, returning with wing to rear.
Higher slate roof with gable ends on left. Stone rubble end and axial stacks.
Plan: The original arrangement is uncertain. The terrace comprises four houses
built at differing stages. The house on left is probably the latest addition, of
circa mid C19 with a double depth plan: the two principal rooms to front flank the
entrance which is to left of centre and are heated by end stacks. There is a
parallel range to rear which probably contains service rooms. To right, there are
three smaller cottages, the central cottage probably with a 2 room and cross or
through passage plan, originally heated by end stacks and extended on left with a
one-room plan cottage and on right with a two-room double depth plan cottage (now
used partly as a garage).
Exterior: Two storeys. Left hand house has an asymmetrical 3-window front with
entrance to left of centre; C19 6-panel door in dressed stone round arch opening with
blind radiating fanlight. C19 or C20 2-light casement to left and 2-light and 1-
light casement to right. Three C19 or C20 2-light casements on first floor. To
right, asymmetrical 2:3:1 window front with C19 and C20 doors and garage doors and
C19 and C20 2 and 3-light casements.
