15/48 Beals Cottages

GV II

Pair of cottages. Probably C18 or earlier. Ground floor Flemish bond brick,
first floor weatherboarded; peg-tile roof; brick stacks.

Plan: Details not described as access to interior unobtainable at time of
survey (1989). Pair of double fronted cottages, possibly an extension and
conversion of an earlier house. The range faces south and is slightly set
back from and above the road. The left hand (west) cottage has a lobby
entrance; the right hand cottage has an entrance slightly to right of the
right hand axial stack.

Exterior: 2 storeys. Slightly asymmetrical 4-window front. Roof hipped at
ends; 2 axial stacks with low brick shafts with corbelled cornices. Both
cottages have C19 plank front doors and C18 or early C19 porch hoods carried
on moulded brackets. Ground and first floor casement windows, the ground
floor windows in probably C18 or early C19 embrasures with brick voussoirs,
most of the glazing C20 including metal-framed windows.

Interior: Not accessible at time of survey (1989) but may be of interest.
