Market Heath Cottage

Cottage. Circa 1860s. Framed construction, tile clad with bands of scalloped
tiles, rear wing weatherboarded. Peg-tile roof; brick stacks.

Plan: South facing roadside cottage. Symmetrical 2-cell plan to the main
block with a central entrance and rooms heated from end stacks. Rear service
wing at right angles.

Exterior: 2 storeys. Symmetrical 3-bay front, the roof hipped at ends, the
shafts of the end stacks with curved brackets below the brick cornices.
Central C19 half-glazed front door below a canted oriel window glazed with 4-
pane sashes. 2 ground floor bay windows with similar glazing, 2 first floor
outer 4-pane sashes.

Interior: Not inspected. House undergoing renovation at time of survey
(1989), some of the tile-hanging was missing exposing wall-framing of slender
scantling.
