House, formerly shop and cottages, now house. Mid C16, with C17 and C18
additions and later C20 alterations. Timber framed. Exposed framing
with rendered infilling to first floor, ground floor rendered. Plain
tile roof. Said to be mid C16 house of 2 timber-framed bays and right
gable-end stack bay, with one bay added to right in C17 and one added to
left in C19. 2 storeys and garret. Broadly-spaced studding, with one
arch brace to each bay except left end. Roof half-hipped to left.
Multiple brick ridge stack in second timber-framed bay from right.
Irregular fenestration of four late C20 two-light casements. C20 ribbed
door in rendered porch under stack. Rear lean-to. Interior not inspected,
but said to have plain crown-post roof. A relatively uncommon plan form
for this area.
