Directional signpost. Dated 1834. Low stone post, triangular in section, with segmental arched tops to the outer faces, which bear inscriptions and images of pointing hands. The left hand face reads
'To Walshawlane and Affeside 1834'; the right hand face reads 'To Holcome Ramsbottom Eadenfield Haslingden and Blackburn' and'To Bury'. An early C19 directional sign of vernacular quality which predates the manufactured street furniture of the mid-C19.
