3 houses and part of a fourth; built as one 3-cell house in early or mid C16.
2 storeys. Timber-framed, the front wall of Nos. 76 and 78 was rebuilt C18 in
red brick (now painted) with a band at 1st floor. The whole building was
originally jettied along the street frontage; No.74 retains the upper storey
walling with exposed studwork and crenellated bressumer, but the jetty was
here underbuilt in C19 in red brick work (now plastered). No.74 has a
plaintiled roof, Nos. 76 and 78 have concrete tiles. Various C20 casements
and entrance doors. In No.78 the original parlour has fine multiple-roll
moulded main beams and joists. In No.76 the original hall has a blocked
doorway with arched head which communicates with the service end (now No.74).
An upper floor room of No.1, Raven's Lane is above and structurally part of
No.78, The Street, and is therefore included in this item. Various rear
extensions were added in C19.
