1/137 The Old Rectory

GV II

Rectory, now house. 1640 on datestone, extended probably mid/late C17. Coursed
limestone rubble with ashlar dressings; Stonesfield-slate roofs with rubble
gable stacks. L plan. 2 storeys. Symmetrical 3-window front has small 2-light
stone-mullioned windows at first floor, but at ground floor has 3-light
mullioned windows with labels flanking the central door, above which is the
datestone. Rear wing returns from left and has a large 4-light ovolo-moulded
stone-mullioned window at each floor; both have labels and the transomed upper
window rises into a stone-gabled dormer. Interior not inspected.
