MANSFIELD WOODHOUSE STATION STREET SK 5363 SE and SK 5463 SW (north side) 6/63 and 7/63 No .2 (Clerkson's Hall) 28.1.57 G.V. II House, now N.C.B. offices. 1631, C18, restored C19 and C20. Coursed squared rubble and dressed stone. Ashlar dressings. Chamfered plinth, first and second floor lintel bands, moulded eaves, projecting quoins. C20 plain tile roof with coped gables with kneelers and finials. 4 ridge, single gable and single side wall stacks. 2 storeys plus garrets. 8 bays wide by 3 bays deep. Irregular cross plan with linked C18 stable range to east. Windows are cross and mullioned casements, with hood moulds and chamfered reveals. South front has central projecting gabled bay with 3 casements. Above, 3 casements, and above again, central casement. Return angles have each a casement. West front has recessed centre with gabled wing at each side. Gable to left has a casement. Recessed bay has a casement and C19 canted hipped porch with 2 casements. Above, 6 casements on different levels. Return angle to north has a casement and to right, a door. Above, a casement. Return angle to south has porch with panelled door, flanked by single leaded casements. Above, 2 C20 flat roofed dormers. East front has off-centre flat roofed single storey additions, C19 and C20, and adjoining C18 outbuildings. East gable has 2 casements, and to its right, a casement. Beyond, a door and 2 casements, all C19. Above, to left, 2 casements, one blocked. To right, a casement and 4 C19 mullioned casements. Above again, to left, a casement. North front has lean-to addition to left. Adjoining North Cottage, C18, coursed squared rubble with gabled pantile roof, single gable and single ridge stacks, 2 storeys, 2 bays, has to north a Yorkshire sash and a door. Above, 2 Yorkshire sashes. Adjoining South Cottage, 3 bays, has 2 ridge stacks. To south, C20 casement. To its right, 2 small casements, and to right again, blocked barn door. Above, to left, a C20 casement. North side has 2 pairs of garage doors and fenestration with Yorkshire sashes. Interior has fully panelled C17 dining room with reeded frieze. Panelled C17 plaster ceiling with strapwork and drop finials. Ceiling with cased beams with foliate plaster and strapwork and moulded corbels. Main dogleg stairs with landings have panelled square newels, bulbous turned balusters, moulded hand rail and scrolled string.
