Farmhouse, c1835-40, squared rubble stone with stone slate valley
roof, shouldered coped gables and finials. Two storeys and attic,
Tudor style. Stone mullion windows with hoodmoulds and small-paned
sashes with Tudor-arched heads. South front, 3-window with 3-light
windows to sides, 2-light to first floor centre over large
battlemented and turretted porch with moulded Tudor-arched doorway.
Plainer door within. End walls have paired gables with 2-light
attic windows, 3-light first floor windows and 1-2-1-light ground
floor canted bays. East side has only one canted bay and one 3-
light. Paired gabled rear wings with 2-storey one-window range of
2-light windows each side. Main stacks in valley of front roof.
Tudor-style interior fittings including fireplaces. Said to have
been built 1837 as principal house of the Wiltshire estate of Lord
Crewe, inherited from the Hungerford family.
