Pair of shops, built as shops and dwellings. Early C18, with
extensive remains of late C14 buildings incorporated and
forming part of the rear wall. Painted brick with plain tiled
roof, the earlier rear wall of sandstone.
3 storeys, 5-window range with inserted shop fronts and 2-pane
sashes above with flat-arched brick heads. Continuous sill
band to second-floor windows which are 12-pane sashes. Plain
overhanging eaves, and 4 dormers in the roof.
INTERIOR: extensive cellars of medieval building survive in
No.11. Coursed and squared red sandstone with 4 windows in
splayed embrasures, with rear wall with leaded lights
incorporating stained-glass fleurs-de-lys and roundels. In
return wall that now divides the two properties, moulded
archway blocked in chamfered recess with shouldering carrying
lintel over.
