Pair of houses. Late C18, with c1800 addition. Brick with low
pitched roof not visible. 3 storeys over basement, 8-window
range with alternately advanced and recessed bays each of 2
windows. Doorways in outer recessed bays, 6-panelled doors
with fanlights and clustered shafts to architraves, with hood
carried on scrolled console brackets. Windows are 12-pane
sashes (some 2-pane) with flat-arched heads with keystones.
Parapet eaves cornice. Gable end stacks. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES:
cast-iron railings to basement area have spearhead and urn
finials.
2 bays to left a later (c1800) addition, 3 blind painted
windows over stuccoed basement, overhanging eaves with
modillion cornice. Elevation to park forms part of this
addition. 2 storeys, 4 bays with 15-pane sash windows to
ground floor, and large channelled ashlar bow to right with
15-pane sash windows on the curve between Ionic pilasters.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: cast-iron openwork railings above. Axial
stack. Rear elevation to garden has similar stone bow window
in the addition.
INTERIOR: No.5, original staircase with turned balusters and
moulded tread ends, and Rococo plaster panelling in entrance
hall.
