Town house, now adult education centre, and area railings.
c1850, with addition c1880, converted mid C20. Red brick with
ashlar dressings. Roof not visible. Classical style.
Plinth, quoins, first floor sill band, entablature and
blocking course. 3 storeys; 7 windows, arranged 2:3:2. Windows
are plain sashes.
Projecting centre with an unusual Ionic portico with 2 columns
in antis, with rusticated basement and quoins and dentillated
pediment. Elliptical arched doorway with keystone and crest,
panelled door with fanlight and side panels. Above, pedimented
central window flanked by narrow round-arched windows. Above
again, similar fenestration with smaller windows. Side bays
have 2 windows on each floor, in moulded surrounds.
Outside, in front of the side bays, cast-iron area railings on
a chamfered ashlar plinth.
Addition, to left, red brick with ashlar dressings and slate
roofs. 2 storeys; 4 window range. Windows are top hung
casements. Off-centre square tower, 2 stages, with pyramidal
roof and single window on each floor. To left, a gable with 2
windows on each floor, and to right, a narrow entrance bay
with door and single window.
INTERIOR mainly refitted mid C20. Moulded cornice in ground
floor office.
